Between the Lines

About the "Between the Lines" blog

Our latest exhibition "Between the Lines" reflects our response to the commemoration of the 1914-18 conflict.

This blog will focus on stories behind the work by the E.A.S.T artists as well as looking at other artistic and cultural commemorations around the UK that relate to WWI.

Remembering women of WWI

1914-18 peoplePosted by Janette Mon, October 12, 2015 11:02:28
Today marks the death of the nurse Edith Cavell (1865-1915), celebrated for assisting soldiers from both sides to escape Brussels and shot for treason.

As some of the E.A.S.T members researched the history of women during WWI as part of Between the Lines, it seems appropriate to remember her today with an image of the statue set up in London, just opposite the National Portrait Gallery.
