George Eliot and her father's waistcoat

EASTPosted by Janette Sun, August 28, 2011 20:56:07

Apparently TALKING TEXTILES visit to the Nuneaton and Bedworth Museum and Art Gallery has inspired another textile to be put on view.

Nuneaton is apparently the childhood home of George Eliot (real name Mary Ann Evans - 1819 to 1880), the novelist and the remnants of her father's waistcoat are held in the museum. According to this blogsite - http://desperatelyseekinggeorge.wordpress.com/2011/08/18/talking-textiles/ this has been brought out while our textile exhibition is on view.

Perhaps another reason to visit the museum at the moment!
