EAST - a day at Clothworkers Centre

EASTPosted by Janette Fri, May 01, 2015 20:54:22
Today, a large party of EAST members, plus a few friends went on a trip to the Clothworkers Centre, the textile conservation area of the V&A Museum, London.

We had arranged a tour and were given an insight into work in the conservation area, how items are stored, plus saw quite a few gems including pieces being prepared for forthcoming exhibitions.

Sue Pritchard, our guide, also told us all about how she fell in love with textiles, and how a small child's dream of wanting to know what was behind the "Private" sign at one of London greatest museums, ended up with a job many of us would love.

Photos for our private use were allowed, but we were given special permission to include the picture at the desk, and could not resist having a group photo outside the building as a souvenir of our day.

We finished off the day finding a lovely cafe (The Blue Corner, 79-81 Hammersmith Road) before making our journey home.
